What To Expect From An Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships allow you to learn essential work skills and information while earning a fair wage.

What can I expect from myself?

You must genuinely desire to learn and be prepared to dedicate time to your education while working. Most companies will provide you time during your working hours to finish your apprenticeship; however, you may need to set aside extra time.

Employers’ expectations

You’ll be beginning a new job, which will come with new duties. Because you are being paid to do a job, you must meet their expectations while keeping a company-appropriate attitude. Don’t worry, you’ll be told what’s expected of you when you start, and if you can show that you’re willing and flexible, you’ll be OK! However, specific criteria are non-negotiable: you must be prepared to arrive and leave at the specified times to complete the hours you have been contracted to work, follow sickness and holiday procedures, and adhere to the dress code.

Collaboration

You will need to integrate with your colleagues at work; this is more than just job experience; you will be an employee. In addition, people come from a wide range of ages, cultures, and skills; to work effectively as a team member, you must learn to accept people’s differences.

Apprenticeship Qualifications

An apprenticeship enables you to study while getting practical work experience and earning a livelihood. Apprenticeship learning varies based on the apprenticeship.

You will be assigned a Training Provider in addition to the work-based training offered by the company by whom you are employed. Your Training Provider is not associated with your company, and they are specialists in providing training to help you and your learning needs meet the required criteria.

Every apprenticeship contains many certifications that are specific to you and your job. These include Functional Skills, NVQs or Diplomas, and Technical Certificates.

What are the benefits of doing an apprenticeship?

Apprentices who have completed their training are in high demand. They get valuable work experience and business knowledge they would not have obtained in college or university. In addition, by finishing an apprenticeship, you will demonstrate a high level of commitment and transferable skills that will appeal to all businesses.

The final result

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will not only have earned a wage, received a nationally recognised certification, and gained a fantastic amount of work experience, but you will also have grown in self-confidence. Of course, you won’t have all the answers since working is a constant learning process, but you will be able to deal with various situations and challenges.
