During a trade supplier apprenticeship, you’ll work in a small warehouse and trade counter, serving professional trade customers who know a lot about what they’re buying. You might specialise in different areas like sales, purchasing, managing accounts, handling logistics, and administrative tasks within a trade business setting. Your job involves assisting customers in person and over the phone, managing incoming deliveries, keeping track of stock, and ensuring orders are processed correctly. Understanding the products, services, and systems used in the trade business is important. You’ll also communicate with customers to build good relationships and provide excellent service to encourage them to return.
What you’ll learn
Understand the company’s goals, how your role contributes to its success, your position in the market, internal policies, and potential risks to its reputation. Also, recognise customer needs, be a good listener, understand the difference between internal and external customers, and understand how technology helps the business.
Entry requirements
You’ll usually need:
- Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or experience, particularly where practical or technical skills are demonstrated
Assessment methods
The programme is assessed in various ways before completing the End Point Assessment, including knowledge test, real-life practical observation and Professional discussion (supported by the Portfolio of Evidence)
