On a team leader or supervisor apprenticeship course you will help manage and oversees a group of people to reach specific goals. You’ll give instructions to help achieve these goals. Apprentice Team leaders can work in different types of organisations, and their tasks may vary, but they need similar skills and qualities.
Your main tasks include helping and guiding team members, managing projects, planning and watching over work and resources, helping executing plans, solving issues, and forming connections inside and outside the organisation.
What you’ll learn
On a team leader or supervisor apprenticeship course, you’ll learn:
- Leadership styles and how coaching can help people and boost their performance. Also, learn about organisational cultures, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- About managing people and teams, including understanding how teams work and motivating them. Understand HR systems, legal requirements, and how to manage performance, such as setting goals, conducting appraisals, reviewing performance, handling absences, giving helpful feedback, and recognising achievements and good behaviour.
- About managing customer and stakeholder relationships, including emotional intelligence and conflict management. Also, learn how to promote teamwork across different teams to achieve organisational goals.
- To understand different communication methods and how to use them.
- How to lead meetings, have difficult conversations, provide useful feedback, and address concerns.
Entry requirements
You’ll usually need:
- Five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or higher.
Assessment methods
The programme is assessed in various ways before completing the End Point Assessment, including a portfolio of evidence, presentation and a professional discussion.
Restrictions and requirements
- Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
