Post Graduate Engineer

On a post graduate engineer apprenticeship course, you’ll help develop innovative solutions to complex technical engineering problems.

This engineering degree apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as an engineer.

You will design engineering solutions that use new or existing technologies in software, integrated systems, mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical, or fluid power components/systems and materials. On a technical level, you may also be in charge of complex systems.

This apprenticeship will prepare you to lead your field at any step of an engineered product’s life cycle, including R&D, design, system integration, testing, manufacturing and production, maintenance, product support, decommissioning, supply chain and procurement, and management.

After completing this apprenticeship, you will get a level 7 postgraduate diploma in engineering.

What you’ll learn

On a post graduate engineer apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Comply with rules and regulations, but also the willingness to explore changes
  • Be accountable for project(s)/program(s), budget, and human resource management.

Entry requirements

You’ll usually need:

  • Professionally recognised bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics subject.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this before taking the end-point assessment.

Assessment methods

The End Point Assessment comprises two distinct assessment methods: 

  • Occupational Competence Validation Interview (Viva) 
  • Professional Competence Performance Indicators Recording Form 

Duration and level

  • Duration: 30 months
  • Level: 7 – Degree Apprenticeship
