Costume Performance Technician

On a costume performance technician apprenticeship course, you will help assist the organisation in selecting costumes for short-term and long-term performance plans, as well as taking responsibility for the care maintenance of these costumes.

You will help collect information to create costume running notes, costume inventories, and dressing instructions, identifying the specific needs for each performance and offering a comprehensive overview of the project’s wardrobe requirements.

You will collaborate with performers, including actors, dancers, singers, and models. Whilst on the course, tasks will include preparing performers by checking costume fits, dressing them, managing costume changes during performances, recording and executing alterations and emergency repairs during shows, and laundering and maintaining costumes between performances. Additionally, you will learn to sew, repair, and restore costumes to their original designs using appropriate cleaning, laundering, and ironing methods, ensuring the preservation and protection of fabrics following care guidelines.
