What you’ll learn

On an aviation customer service operative apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Understand the significance of adhering to legal requirements, monitoring compliance, and completing necessary documentation
  • Deal effectively with prohibited articles in aviation operations
  • Define one’s role within the broader aviation team and its contribution to achieving objectives
  • Recognise and respond to individuals’ diverse needs and abilities in various situations and effectively communicate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Recognise the significance of communication and customer service in organisational success
  • Prepare for emergency procedures, including fire, security breaches, and acts of aggression, along with common incidents and disruptions that may arise in an aviation environment and the appropriate actions to take in response to incidents
  • Understand the protocol for addressing unauthorised access in restricted areas
  • Understand the travel documentation prerequisites for travel approval, including electronic prompts and messages
  • Navigate the boarding, departure, and arrival processes, which may include premium services such as lounge access and priority boarding, as well as passenger movement during arrivals
  • Provide the necessary assistance and accommodation to support passengers with additional needs during transit through the airport

Entry requirements

  • Level 2 apprenticeships don’t require any formal qualifications. If you don’t already have GCSEs in English and maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs.

Assessment methods

The programme is assessed in various ways before completing the End Point Assessment including an observation with questions and answers and professional discussion.

Restrictions and requirements

  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Duration, level, subjects and potential salary upon completion

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Relevant school subjects: Geography
  • Potential salary upon completion: £20,000 per annum
