Learning and Skills Teacher

Learning and Skills Teacher

On a learning and skills teacher apprenticeship course, you’ll help teach young people and adults and be responsible for planning and delivering current, relevant, and challenging learning.

A learning and skills teacher is a “dual-professional,” having first become an expert in a trade or subject before studying as a teacher. Consequently, many teachers join the field as a second or even third job.

This job is crucial to the success of traineeship and apprenticeship programmes in delivering high-quality vocational education and training that meets the needs of both students and employers. As learning and skills teacher, you will be responsible for developing and delivering current, relevant, and challenging learning to encourage learners to engage and attain their full potential.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues and other professionals to ensure learner success. You will also provide your pupils’ physical, psychological, and social well-being.

What you’ll learn

On a learning and skills teacher apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Comply with programme standards and provide learning goals in a realistic context.
  • Ascertain that learning activities apply to workplace practice.
  • Encourage students to participate in establishing behavioural standards, mutual respect, and a safe working environment.
  • Engage and inspire all students and encourage them to develop challenging objectives.
  • Use resources that are inclusive and beneficial to the development of learners.
  • Use digital and mobile technologies to aid learning safely and effectively.
  • Access to up-to-date information, counsel, and guidance
  • Encourage learners to take ownership of their success by providing regular 360° feedback.
  • Seek feedback from students, colleagues, and other stakeholders to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Use aggregated assessment data to review and enhance one’s own and others’ performance and discover and report developing disparities in progression and achievement among learners.
