I love it , I really enjoy the environment. Can be busy and understaffed from time to time. Brilliant company to work for, they really look after there staff.
As a barista at Costa coffee for nearly three years I can say with assurance that you do not want to work at this company. They treat staff terribly, you get treated incredibly poorly by customers, and staff are not friendly.
Almost every single shift someone would call in sick and leave everyone else short staffed for the day, which was especially difficult as we were always understaffed in the first place. The remaining staff were unmotivated and a few team members would always end up picking up the slack of all of the hangers-on.
Management was very poor and they even expected me to complete online training out of my paid hours which I thought was unfair and unreasonable. In little under three years I have had several managers, none of which seemed to have any passion for the role or understanding of the work they were expecting their employees to do.
Do not bother applying, you can earn more money for less stress somewhere else.
Great place to work.
A great place to work. And a great team, always happy to help when help was needed. Only reason for leaving was the cost of Getting back and fore Castleton
25% off food whilst not working and 50% whilst working
Really long hours and no breaks
Great company to work for
I loved working for whitbread. Fantastic company which gave me the confidence I have today. Hard work and willingness to learn is rewarded. Clear and precise instructions that enable you to fulfill your goals.
Great! *if you have the support of a great team
Manager at the time I was employed was not very helpful with either my training or issues I was having with my payroll, it was instead ignored and I didn’t feel there were really any explanation for this after I left the company and reported it? Whitbread head office however will absolutely duly investigate any employee issues and sort them out. I would happily work for the company again with a different manager, benefits are great you get discounted food and the workload is often bearable (given there is enough staff). You can also earn benefits from positive customer reviews which is great incentive to put the extra effort in
