What Are The Benefits Of Doing An Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships provide many benefits often overlooked when deciding what to do after school. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most significant benefits of doing an apprenticeship, as well as how they will benefit you in the long run:

Earn money while you learn

It is important to enjoy the advantages of a social life while having enough money to meet your basic needs. An apprenticeship typically begins with a low-wage position, but there is the possibility of advancement once your first year of training is completed; their employers retain 90% of apprentices upon completion of their course, and nearly one-quarter of apprentices are promoted within 12 months of finishing.

Acquire recognised qualifications

Each level of your apprenticeship lasts one year and ends with you receiving a certificate you can show prospective employers. Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE passes), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A-Level passes), Level 6 (degree level), and Level 7 (Master’s level).

Increase your self-confidence and respect

Working at a company teaches you to take responsibility for your actions, behave in the workplace, and be self-sufficient in your responsibilities. Consequently, you will gain the respect of your colleagues and managers, giving you the confidence to carry out your duties.

Take advantage of ongoing, personalised support

When you begin your apprenticeship, you will be assigned an assessor who will be in charge of assigning all of your work, marking it, and guiding you through the course. They are accessible at all times to answer your inquiries and provide you with help tailored to your particular needs; they will be there for you whenever you need them.

Obtain real-world work experience

Working life is quite different from school or university, and an apprenticeship is an excellent way to ease into it while having someone to assist you along the way. In addition, your colleagues will be able to educate you on the ins and outs of everyday work life, so you’ll quickly feel at ease!

Improve your employability

Your apprenticeship enables you to learn and practise your chosen profession and increases your marketability to potential employers.

Employers value commitment, and they will value your work ethic. In addition, they will be able to see that you could combine the demands of a full-time job with your education to complete the coursework component of your apprenticeship.

Take advantage of bargains

You are still considered a student as an apprentice, which means you are eligible for an NUS student discount card. This entitles you to discounts at restaurants, clothing stores, insurance companies, gym memberships, and many other places! Learn more about an NUS card by clicking here.

Enhance your skills

When you begin your apprenticeship, you may not have all of the grades required to proceed to the next level of your chosen career. However, to progress in the business, you will usually be offered the choice of retaking your GCSEs or attending functional skills courses.

Determine your earning potential

Apprentices have increased their earning potential throughout their careers. For example, if you progress to and complete an advanced apprenticeship, you may earn roughly £117,000 more throughout your career than those who do not.

Have a nice holiday

In addition to all national bank holidays, apprentices are entitled to 20 days of paid vacation each year. This means you can go on vacation without being concerned about how much money you may lose! Holidays are important to establish a work-life balance, and you must plan time to relax in between all your hard work!
