What Apprenticeship is Best for Me

You may get the impression that everyone has asked you if you want to do an apprenticeship, but no one has told you how to pick the right apprenticeship for you.

What factors do you include when deciding which apprenticeships to pursue? For example, is a paralegal, plumbing, or service technician apprenticeship the best thing to do?

Hundreds are available in various industries, from design and construction to manufacturing and media. If you know just what you want to do, that’s great! However, you are likely always unsure which one – or maybe which business – is best for you.

As a rule, it’s smart to think about your ambitions and skills. So what are the strong points? Do you want a hands-on apprenticeship, or do you want anything more office-based?

Have an open mind and search for ones you haven’t seen before. You never know. Even work that seems “boring” can be perfect for you.

Accounting, communications, television, IT, advertisement, music, and creative sectors, all offer apprenticeships. For example, if a more traditional one is appropriate for you, you can follow it or pursue a science or engineering apprenticeship. If all of this is overwhelming, you can attend an apprenticeship fair and speak with employers from these and other companies.

Of course, the resources available in your field can restrict your choices.

If you don’t want to move, look at the kinds of apprenticeships available in your region and base your decision on those.

The most critical thing to remember is that apprenticeships are only the beginning of your career. As a consequence, you may choose an apprenticeship that is relevant to your job objectives.
