You’ll help attract candidates and match them to temporary or permanent job positions on a recruitment consultant apprenticeship course.

A career as a recruitment consultant may appeal to those with an entrepreneurial mentality. It will provide you with the opportunity to get rewarded while also allowing you to make a lot of money.

Your main line of work will be in the recruitment sector, where you will find and fill employment vacancies inside client companies.

You will seek candidates and successfully place them in such jobs in return for a fee. You’ll focus on finding temporary or permanent workers or a combination.

There are many opportunities for personal and professional development in the recruitment business, such as team leader and/or management roles.

What you’ll learn

On a recruitment consultant apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Identify, track, and convert sales leads into new customers, prospects, and placements.
  • Strive to be proactive and consistent in finding and acquiring new business opportunities.
  • Find suitable employment vacancies in line with company standards and sales procedures.
  • Identify and recruit candidates using all acceptable methods to fill vacancies.
  • Monitor responses/applications received and ensure that all candidate applications are processed promptly.
  • Create a shortlist of qualified applicants for particular job vacancies and submit them to the hiring manager.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection procedures and effectively communicate with the client, candidate, and internal teams.
  • Inform clients and candidates on legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements and appropriate codes of conduct while recruiting.
  • Provide candidates and clients information on employee rights and responsibilities, such as equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Accurately complete all necessary procedures, fees, and aftercare treatments.
  • Seek out and provide professional comments to candidates and clients.
  • Conduct regular service assessments with both customers and candidates to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Accurately record candidate and customer information in the recruitment database.
  • Elevate disobedience as required.

Entry requirements

You’ll usually need:

  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths, for an advanced apprenticeship.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this before taking the end-point assessment.

Assessment methods

The End Point Assessment comprises two distinct parts: 

  • Project Assignment 
  • Professional Discussion 

Duration, level, subjects and potential salary upon completion

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Level: 3 – Advanced Apprenticeship
  • Relevant school subjects: Business studies
  • Potential salary upon completion: £21,000 per annum
