Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

About us

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) was formed in April 1998, following the merger of two smaller NHS trusts in the city. Today, it is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe, a regional and national centre for specialist treatment, a renowned biomedical research facility, and the local hospital for the Leeds community.

Every year, LTHT provides healthcare and specialist services for people from the city of Leeds, Yorkshire and the Humber and beyond. The Trust plays an important role in the training and education of medical, nursing and dental students and it is a centre of world-class research, pioneering new treatments.

1.5 million patients are treated every year, including more than 200,000 emergency patients. The Trust spends around £1.34 billion of NHS money, treating illness and disease in Leeds and on specialised services for people across Yorkshire and the Humber and nationally. LTHT employs more than 20,000 staff and works with academia and industry to play a leading role in education, research and innovation.
