Junior Energy Manager

Junior Energy Manager

On a junior energy manager apprenticeship course, you’ll help meet sustainability commitments by reducing energy consumption and costs.

The junior energy manager apprenticeship addresses the need for basic in-house energy management skills at organisations across industries as they prioritise energy cost rises and seek the ability to regulate their energy use.

As a junior energy manager, you will play an essential role in helping these organisations achieve their energy and cost-cutting objectives and targets within the framework of wider sustainability commitments such as carbon and water management and corporate social responsibility.

You must be technically smart, numerate, have good communication skills, and be willing to broaden and constantly improve your existing grasp of important energy management topics.

What you’ll learn

On a junior energy manager apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Fill out template reports and maintain records for auditing and reporting.
  • Identify and explain the variables that influence the energy consumption of a structure and its processes (building operation: summer/winter, day/night, etc.).
  • Determine and define suitable, measurable energy performance measures (energy use, consumption, efficiency)
  • Implement and/or manage metering and measurement methods, as well as do fundamental output analysis
  • Take part in all aspects of the energy and water audits: conduct energy and water audits and/or assessments, and identify energy and water-saving products, systems, and processes
  • Contribute to the organisation’s procurement process/products/services
  • Assist with gathering energy performance data, administration and execution of energy awareness and incentive programmes, and the associated communication strategies for reduced energy use.
  • Identify, organise, and use resources effectively to complete tasks as instructed, considering efficiency, cost, quality, safety, security, and environmental impact.
  • Work efficiently and safely while doing tasks in line with authorised standards and safe working practices, whether as part of a team, alone or under proper supervision.
  • Engage with individuals using appropriate communication methods to give and receive information properly, on time, and in a pleasant, professional manner.
