To become a licenced and qualified electrician, you must have a level 3 electrical or electro-technical qualification (or equivalent). Traditionally, this is accomplished via an apprenticeship, with a Level 3 certificate awarded upon completion.
Apprenticeships usually last three years and involve one day of schooling each week and four days of employment in a related job.
In line with the government’s apprentice work hours regulations, you may expect to work 30 hours per week plus one day of study as an apprentice.
