How Do Apprenticeships Affect Benefits

Earnings from the apprenticeship will be treated similarly to earnings from any other kind of job. Therefore, they will be included when calculating the amount of value you are entitled to.

How do apprenticeships affect benefits?

Apprenticeships affect benefits in several ways; for one, you will be asked to sign a claimant commitment if you earn Universal Credit.

You will be exempt from performing specific work-related tasks if you are doing an apprenticeship for more than 30 hours a week. This eliminates the need to look for different positions or hold Jobcentre workshops.

If you have family or care responsibilities or an illness or disability that renders working 30 hours a week impossible, you would not be allowed to perform any job-related tasks unless your apprenticeship is less than 30 hours a week.
