  2. Monthly-Paid Apprentices: For those paid monthly, calculate your holiday pay by dividing your annual salary by 52 weeks to get the weekly pay and then multiply it by the number of weeks you plan to take off.

Understanding Accrual

Accrual refers to the process of building up holiday entitlement over time. During the first year of your apprenticeship, you may accrue holiday entitlement at a rate of 1.66 days per month, totalling 20 days for a full year. However, checking your specific contract or agreement is essential, as some employers may offer a more generous allowance.

Taking Annual Leave

As an apprentice, you are entitled to a minimum of 20 days of paid annual leave each year, in addition to the usual bank holidays. Depending on your employer’s policies, these bank holidays can be included in your annual leave or taken separately.

Requesting Holiday Leave
