Digital and Technology Solutions Professional

On a digital and technology solutions professional apprenticeship course, you’ll help create digital and technology solutions that enable businesses to develop new products and services and increase productivity.

A digital and technology solutions professional provides technology-enabled solutions to internal and/or external customers in software, business and system analysis, cyber security, data analysis, and network infrastructure.

As an apprentice, you will utilise digital technologies to develop technical solutions that enable businesses to generate new products and services while improving organisational efficiency.

You will graduate as a confident, competent, skilled self-sufficient professional capable of working in several relevant roles, such as software engineer, IT consultant, business analyst, cyber security expert, data analyst, or network engineer.

What you’ll learn

On a digital and technology solutions professional apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Perform a critical analysis of a business domain to identify the function of information systems, expose issues, and propose development opportunities by evaluating information systems in relation to their intended purpose and effectiveness.
  • Analyse business and technical needs to find and specify appropriate technological solutions.
  • Recognise organisational information requirements and develop data solutions using conceptual data modelling techniques.
  • Evaluate the security risks of a simple IT system and offer remedies. 
  • To develop technological solutions, use organisational theory, change management, marketing, strategic planning, human resource management, and information technology service management. 
  • Follow a systematic strategy for initiating, planning, executing, managing, and finishing technology solution projects.
  • Design, construct, and manage computer networks in an organisational environment, focusing on the services and capabilities provided by network infrastructure solutions. 

Entry requirements

You’ll usually need:

  • Three A-levels, including maths, or equivalent.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this before taking the end-point assessment.

Assessment methods

The End Point Assessment comprises two distinct assessment methods: 

  • Work-based project 
  • Presentation

Duration, level, subjects and potential salary upon completion

  • Duration: 36 months
  • Level: 6 – Degree Apprenticeship
  • Relevant school subjects: ICT
  • Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
