Digital and Technology Solution Specialist

On a digital and technology solution specialist apprenticeship course, you’ll help investigate, identify and implement technological and strategic solutions.

A digital and technology solution specialist maintains digital and technology strategy via technology leadership, including researching, creating, and implementing technological and strategic solutions.

In this role, you will be in charge of digital technology provision by studying organisational goals, strategies, and practices and developing and implementing strategic plans for digital technology implementation.

To work in a range of digital and technology-related specialised professions such as software engineering, data analytics, and cyber security, you must be confident, informed, competent, and capable of utilising leadership and change management skills.

You will get a master’s degree in digital and technical solutions at the end of your studies.

What you’ll learn

On a digital and technology solution specialist apprenticeship course, you’ll learn to:

  • Perform a critical analysis of a business domain to identify the function of information systems, expose issues, and propose development opportunities by evaluating information systems in relation to their intended purpose and effectiveness.
  • Analyse business and technical needs to find and specify appropriate technological solutions. Designs, implements, tests, and debugs software to meet requirements using contemporary methods such as agile development. 
  • Recognise organisational information requirements and may develop data solutions using conceptual data modelling techniques. 
  • Evaluate the security risks of a simple IT system and offer remedies. Security risks and hazards associated with planned and executed information systems or services may be discovered, analysed, and assessed (e.g. Cloud services).
  • To develop technological solutions, use organisational theory, change management, marketing, strategic planning, human resource management, and information technology service management. Produces well-thought-out investment ideas and provides business knowledge.
  • Design, construct, and manage computer networks in an organisational environment, focusing on the services and capabilities offered by network infrastructure solutions. 

Entry requirements

You’ll usually need:

  • A degree at 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject.
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this before taking the end-point assessment.

Assessment methods

The End Point Assessment comprises two distinct assessment methods: 

  • Work-based project 
  • Presentation

  • Duration: 18 months
  • Level: 7 – Degree Apprenticeship
  • Relevant school subjects: ICT
  • Potential salary upon completion: £35,000 per annum
