Can You Get Taxed On An Apprenticeship Age

Apprentices widely assume they are not required to pay income tax, so can you get taxed on an apprenticeship age? Apprentices, like everyone else, are required to pay income tax. Apprentices may find some general tax advice for first-time workers in the government’s employment section useful.

You should not be taxed if you earn less than £12,570 in the 2022/23 tax year, but you may be required to pay National Insurance contributions. The amount of £12,570 is referred to as your allowance. Earnings above the personal allowance are taxed at the applicable marginal tax rate.

Tax is typically paid using the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system, which means it is deducted directly from your paycheck. As a result, you should not have to file a Self Assessment tax return.
