Can You do an Apprenticeship in Psychology

ELFT has been working with local Higher Education Institutions to develop a new Apprenticeship in Psychology for people with complex mental health problems.

Can you do an apprenticeship in psychology?

Yes, the Clinical Associate in Psychology as well as an MSc degree. This role is open to those with a psychology degree.

ELFT is one of the first NHS trusts in England to offer these innovative apprenticeships. There are 12 installation sites in all. In addition, NHS trusts in Sheffield and Cornwall are developing similar pathways, focusing on Personality Disorder and Children’s Mental Health, respectively.

Apprentices will be employed to serve in our mental health services, be monitored and educated by licenced counsellors regularly, and attend university one day per week. The apprenticeship would last for 18 months.

Everyone recognises the value of communication. The benefits of holistic approaches to wellness and well-being are becoming more widely recognised. However, we need more physicians willing to deliver them to the people we serve.

In health and social care, an exciting revolution is taking place that will change the way programmes are organised to benefit citizens. Clinical Psychology Associates will work in and with local neighbourhoods and partners to help people make the requisite changes to bring more out of life.

This approach promotes early intervention and prevention, which aligns with the NHS Long Term Plan priorities.
