There is no apprenticeship route to becoming a dentist since a BDS degree is needed. However, suppose you do not want to attend university. In that case, you may wish to look into the following dentistry-related careers, which all offer school-leaver options in addition to a degree path:
- Dental technicians may pursue a BTEC national diploma or SQA higher national certificate in dental technology after finishing GCSEs.
- A two-year diploma in dental hygiene is available to dental hygienists.
- Dental nurses may begin working as trainees while pursuing a national certificate in dental nursing or a level 3 diploma in dental nursing.
- Dental therapists may pursue a diploma in dental care after completing their A levels.
